WORK WITH US

Would you love to work with dogs? If so you might be suitable for one of the following roles:

Doggy daycarer

We are looking for fit, reliable, dog lovers to help with our ever expanding daycare client list. This could be on an ad hoc or more regular basis depending on your availability and our clients’ requirements.

This position would suit people who have experience of working with and/or owning dogs, who are responsible, dependable and professional.

You must:

  • Be physically fit (our clients enjoy long walks)

  • Have a car and a full, clean driving licence

  • Have a secure garden

  • Live within 30 minutes drive of a large park or open space (e.g Hampstead, Richmond, Battersea)

  • Be at home from 8 – 6

How daycare works

>Introductions

All clients are required to complete a registration questionnaire which we pass on to our carers.

The owner and carer then arrange a mutually agreeable time for an introductory meeting.

This initial meeting gives everyone a chance to get to know one another. If after this meeting the carer does not feel happy to proceed they are required to let us know within 24 hours .

>What do I have to do?

As part of daycare carers are required to exercise, feed and care for the dog as instructed by the owner.

Unless otherwise agreed with the owner’s dogs should not be left alone for more than 30 minutes.

While a dog is with you you will be issued with a 4Paws collar and  identification tag containing our contact details. This is to be worn at all times while the dog is in your care.

Boarding host families

If you have experience of owning a dog, but now find yourself without any pets, then providing a loving home by becoming a 4Paws Outdoors host family can be a fun and rewarding experience.

Alternatively perhaps you own a dog who would welcome a holiday guest.

If you feel you could open your home to a dog on holiday and fit our criteria we would be delighted to hear from you.

You must:

  • Have experience owning a dog
  • Have no dogs of your own any longer or a well socialised small dog who would welcome a canine friend
  • Be at home during the day
  • Enjoy walking - rain or shine!
  • Have a secure private home and garden
  • No children under 10 years of age

How boarding works

>How many dogs will you look after?

Carers are able to let us know how many dogs they would feel happy to board, plus when we visit to interview we will ascertain the suitability of your home to board different numbers and types of dog.

Generally we have found the maximum number of dogs per family to be 2, sometimes 3.

>What additional requirements are there?

In addition to our interview and training, carers who live in an area where their local council requires anyone boarding a dog in their home to obtain a licence are required to be assessed by the council and licensed for a maximum number of dogs.

All carers will be required to join our Insurance Policy.

>What support will I have?

We are always available for our carers to contact during boards . In the unlikely event of a carer experiencing any difficulties 4Paws are here to step in and resolve the problem.

>How frequent is the work?

Boards can be from one night through to a month. Our work is also very much seasonal with typical holiday periods such as the summer months, Easter and Christmas being our busiest times.

>What does the process entail?

All clients are required to complete a registration questionnaire which we pass on to our carers. The owner and carer then arrange a mutually agreeable time for an introductory meeting.

This gives everyone a chance to get to know one another. If after this meeting either party does not feel happy to proceed they are required to let us know within 24 hours.

During the board carers are required to exercise, feed and care for the dog as instructed by the owner.

Unless otherwise agreed with the owner’s dogs should not be left alone for more than 30 minutes at any time.

While a dog is with you you will be issued with a 4Paws collar and  identification tag containing our contact details. This is to be worn at all times while the dog is in your care.
